Where should I start learning anatomy drawing? ›

When you're just starting out, you only need basic anatomy. So, instead of learning all the complexity of the pelvis for example, look at the simple idea of the pelvis, a very simple idea of the egg-shaped rib cage, a very simple idea of the head. It's enough to figure out where those are and what their angles are.

Try to visualize the anatomical structures by looking at your own body. Examine your body and picture the structure and its location in your head. Another effective way to remember the information is to write it down. Also, you can say it aloud or combine both of these methods.

I start with the head because it establishes the proportion for the rest of the body. Pay particular attention to the angle at which the head tips to the left or right. When you draw your oval, you don't need to go around and around. Just draw an ellipse in single lines once around or so.
